In addition to developing your project you will be involved in providing constructive feedback to your peers in a professional manner at the end of this unit. Through the group project, you will gain fundamental knowledge of group dynamics, problem-solving, and version control repository management. You will learn to communicate and work effectively in a team environment, evaluate team performance, and provide constructive feedback to your peers in a professional manner. Students are assessed through practical application by creating an imaginative style guide and a small environmental piece presented beautifully in a game engine. You will also develop critical skills in problem-solving, communication and self-reflection through the production of technical documentation, reports and self-reflective journals recording the creative process. You will create and maintain design documentation, effectively identify, communicate and resolve technical issues, refine mechanics, scope and gameplay requirements through design iteration.
Carolyn Craig is an artist whose work examines the coded construction of subjectivity. She investigates inscriptive performance as an active site for the maintenance and enforcement of types of cultural normativity with a particular focus on the idea of “habitus” as discussed by Pierre Bourdieu. Carolyn deconstructs gestural actions as tropes and stereotypes by utilising her own body as a site of absurd action. The performative traces of these gestures are recorded and inverted to query the distribution and maintenance of fixity. She is one half of the artist collective BRUCE & Barry with Heidi Stevens. The BFA course covers the full range of printmaking processes including relief, intaglio, screen printing, lithography and digital print process.

In the BFA program, all students take Printmaking in their first year as part of their studio rotations which also includes painting, photomedia, ceramics, and sculpture. In second year, students focus fully on a chosen studio area such as Printmaking, however there are always opportunities for cross-disciplinary work. In 1961 Joy Ewart set up the only open access studio for printmakers in Sydney. Today we teach both traditional and experimental printmaking through a variety of classes. Crafty kids (and their grown-ups) can enjoy some creative fun as well as develop fine motor skills and build confidence while working independently and in groups. Throughout the term they learn about colours, shapes, size, proportions, using space, taking risks and sharing.
Holding space and working alongside survivors of torture and trauma has been a humbling and important learning experience in the last four years for Ann. It has challenged and stretched her practice and emphasised the importance of client centred work by creating temenos and openness to what emerges and working in innovative and experimental ways. After a career in clinical social work for over twenty-five years , Ann wanted to explore new ways for clients to express themselves beyond words.
They must log required hours in the lab environment and meet weekly with an assigned project supervisor who will act as a mentor and support person. A range of creative briefs will be provided covering potential projects in areas such as art and design, modelling, animation, game development, or hybrids of these. In addition to the creative work, students will be guided through planning, documenting, reporting, and reflecting on their work.

Her expertise extends across tradition ceramic techniques into experimental ceramics and installation. Ebony has also worked as a project coordinator and workshop facilitator with indigenous art centres and art fairs including the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair and The National Indigenous Art Fair, Sydney. In her administrative roles she has been appointed as Head of Department in multiple colleges and has held the role of regional coordinator – North Queensland Secondary Schools Creative Generation Excellence Awards. Ebony’s work has been exhibited in both commercial and public galleries throughout Australia, New Zealand and internationally. In 2019 was awarded the prestigious Franz Rising Star Award for Excellence in Porcelain. Fundamental skills in painting and drawing will be explored through structured classes facilitated by experienced tutor and professional artist Ochre Lawson.
Michael is Head of Art History at the National Art School, where he has lectured for over twenty years. His research has roamed over diverse areas, including classical architectural theory, the Italian Baroque, modernist art criticism, and Australian sculpture. Michael is also the national artistic advisor to Sculpture by the Sea. As a core subject at the National Art School, Art History & Theory is studied by all Bachelor of Fine Art students throughout their degree, and as also offered as part of the postgraduate Master of Fine Art degree.
