Liyushan Park (鯉魚山公園 or Carp Mountain Park) is the highest point in Taitung city and supposedly looks like a carp when viewed from above . Another exciting aspect of visiting Alishan is riding the small gauge railway from Chiayi, but beware that part of the railway is out of operation since it was damaged by a typhoon. It is still a hidden gem where you can surf away from the crowds even during the peak season. Lisong Hot Spring has been on my list for years, but I never got a chance. (Avoid during the rainy season.) Another time the entire area was shut down after an earthquake.
It’s just a short drive from Taitung, and the drive is gorgeous as well. I don’t know about this bridge in particular, but there was one like it on my college campus..
