Fukuoka rarely suffers earthquakes and those that do occur are minor.  Fukuoka is also comparatively sheltered, typhoons rarely hit with the force they thump other cities in Kyushu. The region of Chikuho was once home to 48 kabuki theaters but following the collapse of the local economy, all but the Kaho Gekijo Kabuki Theater were shut down. The only remaining theater of its kind in the region. There are campsites and cottages available if you wish to spend a night on the island.
On my last trip to Fukuoka, I ate almost nothing but tonkotsu ramen to try and find the best. Their Hakata ramen was rich and creamy and overflowing with wood ear mushrooms which I love. Aside from its canals, Yanagawa is also famous for a steamed eel dish known as unagi seiro mushi. Unagi and strips of egg are layered over rice then steamed together in a bamboo steamer. If you can, try to plan your visit for the spectacular fireworks displays held in August. Fukuoka also offers many interesting shopping and dining opportunities, in particular in Canal City Hakata. I got all the recommended suggestions in terms of noodle hardness, green onion, pork, garlic and spice levels and it didn't disappoint. The best part of the temple is definitely the massive bronze statue of Buddha reclining, an incredible sight that was built in 1995. This statue was erected in 1995 to store and worship these ashes. Sakurai Futamigaura is one of the most famous scenic spots in Itoshima. You can see the "Couple Stone," a pair of rocks linked by a rope and nestled together like a married couple, with the rare sight of bright white torii gates erected in the waters. Nokonoshima Park is a decent sized  park famous for its flowers that bloom throughout the year. The park is well paved and offers beautiful views of Hakata Bay.
