Melbourne Double Chin Injections

Once placed along the jawline with a microcannula, the increased collagen provides long term results increasing volume  and providing structure and lift to the area. Anti-wrinkle injections double chin treatment injections melbourne can also be placed under the jawline and along the neck to tighten the neck muscle called the platysma. The platysma is a muscle that pulls the jawline tissues including the jowls downward.
A double chin can be a significant concern to those affected by this problem. We often see this concern in those who are not overweight, and weight loss does not always improve the problem. Fat in this region tends to blunt the jawline and cause a lack of definition between the face and the neck.

As we age, the bones of the jaw and mid face diminish, reducing the amount of “scaffolding” holding up the soft tissues of fat and skin in the face. The area next to the chin, known as the pre-jowl area, narrows as the bone behind the chin recedes or flattens out. This loss of structure results in the movement of the soft tissues of the face, which appears to us as the formation of jowls. The mandible, or lower jaw, also changes, with the angle of the bone below the ear at the back of the jaw widening. The effect of this is a loss of jawline definition, and ageing of the neck, with less support to the neck muscles and other soft tissue. Most double chins that we see are not simply just the result of excess fat under the skin.
Beyond that, it can also reshape, shift and rejuvenate different layers of skin, fat and muscle for a more youthful result. One treatment of  fat dissolving injections cost $550 and subsequent treatments are $250. The injectable works by destroying the cell membranes of the fat cells that cause the double chin. The glycerol and fatty acids contained within the cell are then released into the surrounding subcutaneous space before being naturally absorbed by and eliminated from the body.
The treatment has become very popular globally and we were one of the first clinics in Victoria to offer it. That stubborn little pocket of fat under our chin has us taking selfies from above, wearing scarves and high neck tops. It has been shown in data that men will often grow a beard to hide their double chin. While diet and exercise are an important part of every life it won’t necessarily remove pockets of stubborn fat such as double chins.

Multiple small injections are performed with a very thin needle through the skin into the fat layer to deliver the product to the exact treatment area. Yes, CoolSculpting® can treat visible fat bulges under the chin. Freezing away fat from a double chin is as effective as using the CoolSculpting® procedure on other parts of the body (e.g., abdomen, flank/side, thighs).
Each treatment is made up of a series of tiny injections placed under the chin. The number of treatments required varies from patient to patient. The ‘double chin’ effect is caused when a small pocket of submental fat develops just beneath the jawline. It is usually caused by ageing, genetics or weight gain and unfortunately, diet and exercise often does little to remove it. At The Greville Clinic, we recommend at least 2 to 3 under chin fat removal treatment sessions to achieve noticeable results, with each session spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.
Much like any injectable treatment in Melbourne, you may feel some side effects with double chin removal. The most common one experienced by patients is a mild to moderate pain/discomfort in the chin and/or neck area. This is typically managed with ice or a topical numbing cream that is administered before the Injection treatment. Fullness under the chin is often caused by ageing, genetics or weight changes.

Before starting the treatment, you’ll have a consultation to see if this treatment is suitable for you. As a non-invasive treatment using injections instead of incisions, there will be numbing agents to make the process comfortable as there will be  a number of injections administered. Fat removal is permanent, while skin tightening lasts 5-7 years.
There is a significant amount of swelling after each treatment which may last a few weeks. Often the swelling is greater than the swelling experienced with liposuction. The treatment, unlike liposuction, also needs to be repeated for the best results. The results from fat-dissolving injections are typically less dramatic than liposuction. The double chin injection treatments contain a product which contains deoxycholic acid – a substance naturally occurring in the body – which helps to absorb fat in food. The product is injected into the fat in the double chin area and permanently destroys the fat cells by a process known as adipocytolysis.
Swelling is increasingly common after the completion of fat dissolving injections. Within the first three days, you may also notice some bruising. After seven days, these symptoms will dissipate, and your chin may begin to feel firmer than it was before. As time goes on and the cells are absorbed naturally into the body, your jaw will begin to reduce in size visually. We recommend spacing out treatments between six to eight weeks, and we find that many patients only require two or three treatments for desired results.
