Their first project for the platform, a documentary about the Invictus Games titled The Heart of Invictus, is in production. This is the second piece of content and first full show to debut on Spotify by Archewell Audio, Meghan and husband Prince Harry's production company, since the couple signed a deal reportedly worth $25 million/£18 million with the streaming service in 2020. After stepping down as working members of the royal family, Harry and Meghan moved to Los Angeles where they lived close to Williams, before buying a family home in Montecito. The interview follows the release of a bombshell biography that claimed Williams denied having a friendship with Meghan to a Vanity Fair journalist in the months before she married Prince Harry. Serena Williams has reaffirmed her friendship with Meghan Markle during an interview with Vogue marking her appearance on the fashion bible's September issue cover.
The couple signed an exclusive deal worth a reported $25million with the online music streamer in 2020 when they stepped away from being senior working members of the British Royal Family and relocated to the UK. The show holds the record for the biggest Netflix documentary debut, with a total 81.6 million hours watched on its first four days of release, adding up to more than 28 million households. However, it was also very controversial, not least because the footage used to illustrate the activities of the paparazzi was shown to have been shot at events that had nothing to do with the royal couple.

In July 2020, she spoke in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. She played the part of Rachel Zane for seven seasons (2011–2018) in the American TV legal drama Suits. She also developed a social media presence, which included The Tig (2014–2017), a lifestyle blog. During The Tig period, Meghan became involved in charity work focused primarily on women's issues and social justice. She was married to American film producer Trevor Engelson from 2011 until their divorce in 2014. The 40-year-old posted a picture with Megan and wrote that she loved talking about many important topics and was glad to be her first guest on the podcast.
The couple's six-part documentary series premiered on the streaming platform last December, while Harry's own Heart of Invictus' documentary is due to hit screens next month. "Prince Harry and Meghan's 'secret wedding' an exchange of vows and not legal ceremony". Sources within both the Church of England and those working for the Sussexes moved to clarify that the vows presided over by the Most Rev Justin Welby in the garden did not constitute a legal marriage. Instead, the "marriage" was merely a personal and private exchange of vows between the couple.

In April 2023, Samantha refiled the lawsuit with an amended complaint that covered statements made by Meghan in her Netflix docuseries as well. Markle became known through The Tig for her fashion sense, releasing two fashion collections with Canadian clothing company Reitmans in 2015 and 2016. The lines were based on her personal style and that of her Suits character. In 2016, she hosted USA Network's video series Power Lunch with Meghan Markle in collaboration with Lexus and Eater, discussing the culinary inspirations of five different New York kitchens. In February 2022, the couple were selected to receive NAACP's President's Award for their work on causes related to social justice and equity. In October 2022, Meghan and Harry were named as Ripple of Hope Award laureates for their work on racial justice, mental health and other social initiatives through their foundation Archewell.
While making a guest appearance on Naomi Campbell's YouTube series, No Filter with Naomi, Serena Williams smoothly sidestepped a question about her friend Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Williams, who thanked Markle for being her sounding Generational wealth board, sent the Sussexes a sneak peek of the Vogue article that ultimately announced her decision to retire. “I wanted you to understand what it meant to have your support and for H’s support—for everything,” Williams said.

She continued to rave about her best friend, noting that she flew to New York to see her play tennis and flew all the way back in the same night. "It kind of goes to show you what an amazing person she is," said Williams. "That's just one of the many amazing things that she does for me." The tennis star continued, "It's so good to have people like that, just to know," adding that Meghan is "such a fan of the sport." When Williams was asked about the negative press surrounding Markle following her Wimbledon appearance the week prior, the tennis star had nothing but uplifting things to say about her friend.
"You already know what time it is,” she wrote. “I hope we all continue to rally around women who dare to stand up for themselves and others. We see you, we support you, we got your back." On March 7, 2021, the world waited with baited breath to hear what revelations Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would reveal during their two-hour interview with Oprah Winfrey. In the lead up and aftermath, people took to social media to express their support for Meghan, including celebrity friends like Serena Williams, Beyoncé, and Suits star Patrick J. Adams. When Meghan launched a cookbook this month -- her first major charitable initiative since joining the royal family -- it was Williams who very publicly supported her friend. The debut episode of the long-awaited podcast "Archetypes"dropped earlier this week, and the very first guest was none other than tennis star Serena Williams, with whom Meghan Markle has had a close relationship for years.
Williams and her husband even attended Meghan and Prince Harry's 2018 nuptials across the pond. Serena wants us to know she’s so much more than tennis and business. And with that, Serena takes her final twirl off the podcast and Meghan takes us on home to Montecito, where a symbolically loaded wildcat is still at large, threatening to eat Rob Lowe, Tyler Perry, and other denizens of the quiet mountain town. "Even though we were being moved to another place afterwards, we still had to leave him and go do another official engagement," she added.

The tennis star wrote a lengthy Instagram statement making it clear that she stands behind her friend. "I am so proud of you for being so brave. I know it is never easy," she wrote in the caption of her post. "You are strong—both you and Harry. I love you. I adore you. Your friend S." While discussing the double standard women face when they are labeled “ambitious,” Meghan and Williams urged listeners to consider and “recogniz what people don’t see” and shared their personal experiences as friends, celebrities and moms.
Meghan Markle may be on maternity leave from her royal duties after giving birth to her son Archie in May, but that didn’t stop her from making a surprise appearance at Wimbledon to support her friend Serena Williams. "She teaches me every day what  it means to be truly noble. Her words illustrate the pain and cruelty she's experienced," the seven-time Wimbledon champion wrote. When Serena Williams takes the court at Grand Slam tournaments around the globe, all eyes aren’t just on her—they’re also on her cheering section.

The couple’s foray into the world of podcasting generated significant buzz and excitement when they signed an exclusive deal with Spotify to produce original content. While the exact reasons for not meeting the benchmarks remain undisclosed, speculation arose regarding potential factors. Despite their celebrity status and immense popularity, it seems that the podcast’s performance might not have lived up to the high expectations set by the streaming platform. The television special Oprah with Meghan and Harry was broadcast on CBS on March 7, 2021. Meghan spoke about her personal and royal life and public pressure.
